  • 4 lb venison roast
  • 1/2 tsp salt divided
  • 1 tbsp. cooking oil or high heat tolerant cooking fat
  • 2 cups beef soup stock made from bouillon cubes
  • 1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Worchestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. thyme dried
  • 1/2 tsp rosemary dried
  • 1 tsp. parsley dried
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 onion yellow onion, cut into large pieces
  • 1 lb. potatoes baby yellow
  • 5 carrots peeled and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. tapioca starch arrowroot powder or cornstarch
  • 1 oz red wine



  • To remove any extra moisture or dried blood, blot the roast dry with a paper towel after taking it from the container. Put half a teaspoon of salt on top of the meat after that.
  • Brown the roast by searing it on all sides in a large skillet with heated oil or fat over medium-high heat. If the meat remains in the pan when you flip it, it's not done cooking. The sear will release the food from the pan.
  • Place the roast in a slow cooker and cover once it has been seared on both sides.
  • Toss in the wine and stock with the slow cooker, or start with frozen stock. Then add the tomato paste, balsamic vinegar, Worchestershire sauce, thyme, rosemary, parsley, pepper, half of the garlic, and half a teaspoon of salt. Continue moving forward by doing so.
