Cooking Tips

If you’d like delicious baby back ribs, they must be seasoned. We all have different preferences, but the trick is putting it on thick. In my perspective, the only way for one to over season ribs is to use too much salt. This is the reason I use Kosher. It’s light, fluffy, and with a few flakes sprinkled equally, it properly flavors the meat.

Whenever seasoning your ribs, be sure to take out the white skin/membrane from the back or bone side of the rack. It takes some time, but it improves the softness of the flesh. Simply raise one corner and carefully pull until it tears.

With a knife that is sharp, cut each rack in halves or thirds, depending on its size.

Brush each rack with olive oil and liberally apply the dry rub on both sides, rubbing it in.

Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour.

Preheat the grill to 325 degrees Fahrenheit while keeping this low temperature. Wrap each rack with foil to form a tightly wrapped packet.

I use a number of seasonings in different ways, but the trick is cooking the foil packet bourbon pork ribs on the grill slowly and real real slow, regardless of what you season them with. Grill them over burning coals in a smoker, BBQ grill, or in the oven as I do, and your slow and low approach will never disappoint you.
